Birth Relative Counselling

We have been offering Birth Relative Counselling services since early 2004. We aim to provide birth relatives with a genuinely helpful service that makes a difference to their lives and the lives of their children. We recognise that the effect on parents and families of losing children to adoption or Special Guardianship is immense. The impact on families results in complex feelings of grief and loss. Our counsellors are very experienced at supporting families in this situation.

This is a confidential service and we are independent from the local authority. Our service aims to ensure that birth families receive the support they need in order that they can start to heal and move forward with their lives.

We offer a male and female counsellor and the option of having counselling either on the telephone, or a video call, or face to face. We will discuss these options with you at the time of the referral.

All our counsellors are qualified and accredited and have extensive experience supporting families in this situation. We also ensure that our counsellors are well trained and aware of current research and best practice in the field. This helps us to offer a high quality, responsive and flexible service.
